Team Jumbo-Visma: The greatest moments of 2023

This article was written when Visma was co-sponsor of Team Jumbo-Visma. Today, Visma is first title sponsor of Team Visma | Lease a Bike.
If we were to describe 2023 for Team Jumbo-Visma in one word, it would be “epic”. The team made history a few times over, most impressively by winning all three Grand Tours in the same season. It was a feat no other team has ever accomplished. The twists and turns of this year felt like the plot line of a good Netflix series. (psst… Season two is coming in 2024!)
To be fair, the expectations coming into this season were high after Jonas Vingegaard won the Tour de France in 2022. Poised as one of the top cycling teams in the world, all eyes were waiting to see if Jonas and the team could pull off a back-to-back Tour de France win.
Well, they certainly met those expectations and even went above and beyond to make it a record-breaking year. Let’s take a look back at the very best moments of 2023.
Primož Roglič wins Giro d’Italia
In May, Primož Roglič put the first Grand stamp of the year in the “Win” column for Team Jumbo-Visma. This was actually the first-ever Giro d’Italia General Classification win for the team. So, the season was off to a great start!

In July, it was time to see if Jonas and the team could pull off back-to-back dominance in France. After taking the lead in the General Classification after Stage 6, Jonas had an extraordinary time trial win on Stage 16, finishing over a minute and a half ahead of his closest competitor, Tadej Pogacar. He held onto his position through the remaining stages and celebrated the ultimate win on the Champs-Élysées.
Sepp Kuss wins La Vuelta

Once… twice… three times the champions! After a hard-fought battle, Sepp Kuss completed his tour de force year with a historic win of La Vuelta in early September.
Not only did this victory cement Team Jumbo-Visma’s place in the history books for winning all three Grand Tours in a single season. It was also the first time ever one team took all three spots on the final podium. And for Sepp, it was the cherry on top of a fantastic season after helping Primož and Jonas win their Grand Tour races.

Other impressive team stats
But the victories didn’t stop there! Team Jumbo-Visma also won Tirreno-Adriatico, Volta Ciclista a Catalunya, Itzulia Basque Country, Critérium du Dauphiné and the Gree-Tour of Guangxi.
In total, the World Tour team finished the year with 69 wins, the Women’s team had 9 wins, and the Development team rounded it out with 10 wins. Over the course of 184 race days, the men stood on the podium 127 times!
Exciting roads ahead
It was a dream season, and we’re so proud of all Team Jumbo-Visma accomplished. Now, as we look ahead, we’re excited for the next chapter as Team Visma | Lease a Bike. New name, same team. Same drive to win, together.
